Auxiliary air suspension systems – what are the options?

hulpluchtvering-vb-semiair

Our semi air suspension enables the suspension of your vehicle to be adjusted within specific limits. But when – and why – should you choose a VB-SemiAir basic system, and when would you opt for the VB-SemiAir comfort system or the VB-LevelAir system? What's the difference?

Three products within the 'semi air suspension' product group
The VB-SemiAir basic system, the VB-SemiAir comfort system and the VB-LevelAir system all fall into the 'semi air suspension' product group, but the difference between the two VB-SemiAir types and VB-LevelAir lies in the operation. While both versions of the VB-SemiAir can only be operated manually, VB-LevelAir works by means of automatic level control.

  • VB-SemiAir basic system
The VB-SemiAir basic system is made up of two air springs, fasteners and two inflation valves. You have to pressurise the system yourself using an external air supply, such as a tyre inflator.

The basic system is a good option for vehicles that are always heavily laden, but also if the vehicle occasionally carries uneven loads. The pressure will then stay the same more or less all of the time.

  • VB-SemiAir comfort system
The VB-SemiAir comfort system consists of the VB-SemiAir basic system, including a control panel with two pressure gauges, two high/low switches and a powerful heavy-duty compressor.
The high/low switch enables you to raise or lower the ride height of your vehicle so that you can inflate the air springs to the ideal pressure. The pressure gauges show the pressure (in bar) in the air springs.

The VB-SemiAir comfort system is a good option for vehicles that carry uneven loads. The control panel with high/low switch lets you easily adjust the VB-SemiAir comfort system to the right pressure.

  • VB-LevelAir
VB-LevelAir is a VB-SemiAir basic system with automatic level control. With the VB-LevelAir system the height is adjusted automatically, as is the minimum and maximum pressure in the air springs, so that the vehicle is always at the right height and the air springs are always at the correct pressure.

The VB-LevelAir system has a high quality compressor box with air filter, air dryer, valve block, height sensor and an electronic control unit (VB-ASCU – Air Suspension Control Unit).

This system is also a good option for vehicles that carry uneven loads. The VB-LevelAir system ensures the vehicle is at the right height and that the system is at the right pressure whenever the load changes – the height does not need to be adjusted manually as with the VB-SemiAir system.

The automatic level control removes the need for the driver to make any height adjustments, even if the vehicle load changes. This is beneficial particularly if the vehicle has several different drivers.

Return of the international aftersales meeting this year!

In addition to our annual international sales meeting, we are delighted to report that, as of 2023, the international aftersales meeting has become another fixture in the calendar!

We have updated our brochures!

We're already through October and the end of the year is in sight. Before you know it, we'll be settling in for those chilly evenings again: lighting the stove, putting our feet up and getting the tablet out while relaxing on the sofa.

We were keen to celebrate a special moment with Martin!

Today, 20 October, was officially our colleague Martin Uffink's last day of work and marked the start of his retirement. He chose not to work up to the very last minute: with some hours saved up and annual leave owed, his last day at VB-Airsuspension was actually back in August –on Thursday 22nd, to be precise.
