The winter season is approaching and many vehicle owners are looking to make their vehicles ready for the colder months ahead. Perhaps you’re one of those planning to get out in your motorhome or use your commercial vehicle over winter? Either way, we're happy to share a few (technical) tips here to help you get through what can be a difficult season.
Taking your vehicle to a garage for servicing, maintenance or repairs soon?
Are taking your vehicle in to have winter tyres put on? If so, it’s important to prepare your vehicle before any work is done to avoid potential problems. For motorhomes and commercial vehicles with air suspension, we recommend switching on 'service mode' before the garage starts to carry out any work. This mode prevents any unforeseen faults during maintenance. You can switch on service mode on your remote control, our VB-Remote, which is marked with a tool icon.
Taking your vehicle to a garage that is not part of our VB-Partner network?
In this case, you should always inform them that your motorhome has an air suspension system and that service mode needs to be switched on before they start work. This will ensure the air suspension system is put into safe mode, and prevents any unnecessary damage.
Is your vehicle ready for winter? Other things to think about…
In addition to checking your air suspension system, we recommend reviewing a number of other maintenance-related points before taking your vehicle off the road for an extended period or before setting off on your travels. These include checking the oil level, coolant level, tyres and tyre pressure, and battery. Make sure everything is in good condition to guarantee you'll get through the winter months without any issues.
Visual and functional inspection
Before taking your motorhome or commercial vehicle off the road for the winter – or if you are intending to keep using your vehicle through this season – we recommend conducting a thorough visual and functional inspection of your air suspension system and other important parts. Air suspension systems from VB-Airsuspension are generally designed to be maintenance-free. However, giving your system a once-over can help to avoid unforeseen problems.
